floorwork class

Horizontal Momentum is a contemporary floorwork training created by Laura Daelemans. It is a class focussed on a horizontal movement vocabulary, better known as Floorwork. Laura likes to refer to as it horizontal as opposed to other rather vertical movement techniques.

This class is based on the principle of momentum and gravity with the goal to accomplish acrobatic movement in which the body is aligned with the floor. This is created through use of momentum and specific coordinations, rather than relying on muscles.

In this class there is lots of jumping and falling, tensing and relaxing, and acting and reacting in order to get the adrenaline going and create beasts on the floor.

Laura has taught this class in the form of company classes at SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht (the Netherlands), as workshops at de! Kunsthumaniora for Contemporary Dance in Antwerp and the ArtEZ University of the Arts Bachelor of Dance in Arnhem and teaches as a guest teacher in Floorwork and Improvisation at the Mosa Ballet School in Liège.

The class is targeted at professionals and pre-professionals in the workfield of dance or other physical art disciplines.

Feel free to e-mail Laura in case of inquiries or interests in this class at laura.daelem@gmail.com.
